The Different Kinds of Spirit Guides
Welcome to your crash course in the Different Types of Spirit Guides!
There are MANY kinds of Spirit Guides and it can be helpful to mentally organize them by category.
ANGELS:
Angels are one of the most compassionate and well known forms of Spirit Guides. Angels have a very radiant energy (for people who are clairsentient, this may be the first way that you recognize them).
Within the category on Angels there is an additional heirarchy. Below are the 3 categories of Angels that I work with the most as an Energy Healer:
ARCHANGELS: Archangels are at the top of the Angel Heirarchy. These are the angels that to me, feel the most spiritually powerful. For beginners, Archangels are great to start with because their energy is large and tends to be easier to sense. Some common Archangels are Archangel Michael (great protector), Archangel Raphael (great healer), Archangel Metatron (great aligner), Archangel Haniel (Archangel of the moon).
SENTINEL ANGELS: The Sentinel Angels are great protectors. To me, they have always looked like giant stone guards with swords and shields. If I am ever feeling unsafe, or if I am opening up the healing field for an Energy Healing Session, I will ask the Sentinel Angels to surround the perimeter for spiritual and physical protection.
GUARDIAN ANGELS: Guardian Angels are our unique angels. We can have multiple and they travel with us through our lifetimes. For this reason, guardian angels can be helpful when discovering and healing past life wounds or entanglements.
GODS & GODDESSES:
Gods and Goddesses can be incredibly powerful spiritual allies. You can learn about their specialties through the lore and mythology surrounding them. If you don't know where to start when it comes to Gods and Goddesses (because there are a lot of them), one of my favorite ways to get to know guides is through using Oracle decks (blog post with my favorite decks coming soon! You can also start by doing a shamanic Journey (taught in my course Intro to Shamanic Practices) or look up Gods and Goddesses from the area where your ancestors are from.
ASCENDED MASTERS:
Ascended Masters are spirit guides who are thought to have lived as humans on earth ie: Jesus, Mother Mary, and many more. These guides can be very helpful when it comes to learning how to operate as a human on this earth...because they did it. And they did it so well that their spiritual assignment is now to help others do the same from the spiritual realm.
SPIRIT ANIMALS:
Many cultures hold different beliefs about spirit animals. It is important to respect the traditions of these cultures, while also honoring what feels true for you. The traditions that I follow believe that we all have spirit animals, both personal and that protect our families (another example of inherited Spirit Guides). We have multiple spirit animals that serve to help with different aspects of our lives.
